“*ADDENDUM fro JULY 2013 VISIT* I stayed here again and in the women’s dorm they now have individual small shelves next to each bunk (including the top ones) so that you have somewhere to keep a drink and your phone at night and they also have a full length mirror so you can make sure you look extra pretty before a night out. The upstairs bathroom has now been refurbished to new and they had a huge trampoline and small paddling pool outside as well as the ability to barbecue – this place just gets better and better!”

“A night in a fine house & quiet area near to Earls Court. I spent a weekend (September 2013) in London, and needed a place to stay. I was pleasantly surprised to find this hostel in such a quiet location. St James is near to Earls Court, so is ideal for anyone seeing a show. The hostel is in a large 3 floored town house, and I received a warm welcome from the receptionist, who showed me my room and the facilities. There was coffee, tea available, and a complimentary breakfast of tea or coffee, cereal, toast with jam, chocolate spread, and I was able to talk to other guests in the large dining room and lounge. There is complimentary wi-fi and computer to access the internet. Good value for money, especially in this location. For those wishing for fresh air there is a garden. Smoking is forbidden inside the hostel. Room Tip: Try to have room overlooking the garden. [TripAdvisor]”

“My new favourite hostel in London. It’s super well located, just 5-10 min walking to Earl’s Court tube station, in the District line. Our room was very clean and tidy.. as well as the toilets. The shower caused me a bit of claustrophobia, but I survived. The breakfast was good (cereal, milk, toast, coffee, tea, boiled eggs) and you are able to use the kitchen until midnight. And the most important : good wifi .. We really enjoyed our stay. Stayed August 2013, travelled with friends. [TripAdvisor]”

“This hostel is nothing short but the perfect hostel in an accessible location with lovely staff!
From the moment we entered we have experienced extremely friendly and welcoming service. The staff let us check in early, gave us a tour of the hostel so we could familiarise ourselves with our surroundings, and were simply inviting people making our visit fun and enjoyable!
The rooms are comfortable and big, the beds are clean and really easy to sleep in!
There are plenty of showers, toilets and they are clean and not scary as some hostels bathrooms can be.
The common room is clean and people ate happy to spend time their because of how friendly the staff are. The kitchen is extremely clean and useful, the outside area is nice and quiet. The breakfast in the morning is easy, fun and free but also a great way to meet others staying at the hostel.
Overall this hostel is a great place to stay, you truly do get value for money and I honestly recommend staying here to everyone! [TripAdvisor]”

“Now, when I say I’m a budget backpacker, that’s a bit of a lie because what I really mean is I’m a budget backpacker but if there’s a chance to experience a little luxury on a smaller budget, I’m there quicker than Kim Kardashian at a press event for the opening of an envelope. But I think that’s all part of the experience…we each like to travel in our own ways and treat ourselves occasionally which is why I’m reluctantly telling you about St James Hostel London. Why reluctantly? Because in all honesty, I’d rather have the entire hostel to myself and not tell anyone about it but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that ;)”
