BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The terms and conditions outlined herein (the "Booking Terms") govern how Saint James Backpackers (the Hostel) provide its guests accommodation and other goods and services. By making a booking with the Hostel the guest agrees that these Booking Terms are express terms of the contract between the parties.
1. BOOKINGS
All balances must be paid by card. Cash is not accepted.
1.1. We take a £10 - £20 CASH Security Deposit upon check-in. If you are unable to pay cash then we will accept card payment but will charge £11 and return only £10 to cover the transaction charges incurred. The deposit will be returned on check-out as long as the key is returned to us and no damage to the property is caused.
1.2. Any damages or the price of lost keys will be deducted from the security deposit. If the value of the damages exceeds the Security Deposit the guest agrees to pay the full cost of these losses to the Hostel before they check out.
1.3. The cost of the damages will depend on the specific damages caused by the guest. Here is an indication of likely costs:
· £50 for each bent/broken bed support strut
· £200 for each broken window
· £10-20 for each lost or broken key
1.4. All booking extensions MUST be made with our reception team and not through 3rd party websites
1.5. Breakfast is included (8 am – 9:45 am)
1.6. The minimum age is 5 years.
1.7. Luggage can be stored for free prior to check-in (must be agreed beforehand). To store luggage after checkout we charge a fee of £5 per day per bag. That only applies if our luggage room’s space is not yet exceeded on that day.
1.8. Guests may not bring in any pets or animals under any circumstances
1.9. No e-bicycles, e-scooters any form of e-transport or anything with large rechargeable batteries permitted inside the hostel. They represent a fire hazard and threat to life so MUST be kept outside.
1.10. Maximum Stay Policy: the maximum length of time a guest can stay is 1 month after which time they must leave the hostel for at least one month.
1.11. When making a Booking, guests will be required to provide identification information including, but not limited to, the name, contact telephone number and email address of the guest.
1.12. Saint James Backpackers will make every effort to comply with the customer's request to modify the booking details. Any requests to alter the dates or duration of the stay, add more guests, change the type of room, or add products and/or services are contingent upon availability. If the cost of the amended booking is greater than the original booking, the customer will be responsible for paying Saint James Backpackers the increased price of the amended booking. If the cost of the adjusted booking is less than the original booking, Saint James Backpackers will not be required to reimburse any portion of the charges for the original booking.
When the Customer books beds in a shared room, Saint James Backpackers will use reasonable endeavours to accommodate people from the same Booking in the same room but cannot guarantee that will be the case.
1.13. No Guest may re-sell or transfer all or any part of a booking. Saint James Backpackers reserves the right to cancel any Booking if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that a Guest is in breach of this clause.
1.14. Bookings for 10 or more Guests will constitute a group booking and additional Booking Terms apply. Group reservations can only be made through our reservations team and Saint James Backpackers reserves the right to cancel it otherwise as set out on the group booking contract.
1.15. All reservations made using promo codes are non-refundable and must be paid in full at the time of booking. Reservations made online using promo codes will be charged at the time of booking using the card details provided; if the card is declined the booking is null & void. For the avoidance of doubt we do not hold beds using promo codes unless payment is made in full.
2. FEES AND PAYMENT
2.1. Any Additional Charges must be paid either as they are incurred or, at Saint James Backpackers’ option, at check out.
2.2. Upon check-in or in advance, Saint James Backpackers may demand each guest to show a valid payment card on which an adequate pre-authorization can be acquired. We require the credit card used for the reservation to be provided at check-in for advance purchase rates.
2.3. Where Saint James Backpackers makes a refund to the Customer, we require a card valid to process a refund from the card terminal or UK bank details to complete a bank transfer. No refund will normally be issued in cash.
3. CANCELLATIONS
3.1.1 Saint James Backpackers reserve the right to cancel the reservation at any moment and without penalty if:
3.1.2. the customer fails to offer alternate, legitimate payment details, and the payment details they provided are invalid;
3.1.3. the information provided by the Customer in relation to the Booking is misleading or false (for example in relation to the identity of any Guest or the purpose of the stay);
3.1.4. Saint James Backpackers has a reasonable belief that completing the Booking could have a detrimental impact on its operations or reputation as a result of the Customer's actions, or that fulfilling any of its obligations could subject the company to legal action in any form, whether or not the stay was intended to be illegal; or
3.1.5. Any advance payment paid by the Customer in connection with the Booking is reimbursed to them by Saint James Backpackers.
3.2 We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. This requires that a guest wishing to cancel any night of their stay to give at least 48 hours notice
3.3. Additionally, Saint James Backpackers reserves the right to cancel the reservation at any time if the hostel or the reserved room(s)/bed(s) become unavailable due to events beyond the company's control, such as, but not limited to, extreme weather, labour disputes, pandemics, laws or actions by public authorities, or natural disasters. In such a scenario, Saint James Backpackers will, at its discretion, either provide the customer with a refund or give them the option to rebook at a different date(s), subject to availability, at no extra cost.
4. CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT
4.1. Check-in begins at 14:00 local time unless otherwise noted in the booking details. The full range of hostel amenities and services won't be accessible until the scheduled check-in time.
4.2. Check-out time is 10:00 local time. Later check-out times can be possible with advance notice, depending to availability and at an extra cost. If a guest doesn't check out by the designated time, Saint James Backpackers reserves the right to charge late check-out fees at the rate of £10 per hour for each bed in a shared dormitory and the full daily charge for a private room(s).
5. GROUP BOOKINGS
5.1. Any guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
5.2. We require a £200 security deposit. The security deposit will be returned upon checkout providing there are no damages or lost keys. Any damages or the price of lost keys will be deducted from the security deposit. If the value of the damages exceeds the security deposit the guest group agrees to pay the full cost of these losses to the Hostel before they check out.
5.3. The cost of the damages will depend on the specific damages caused by the group by as an indication of likely costs:
· £50 for each bent/broken bed support strut
· £200 for each broken window
· £10-20 for each lost or broken key
5.4. If your group comprises any children (under 18) then by agreeing to book you agree that you will send an adequate number of supervisors for both the control, monitoring and protection of the children throughout their entire stay. For the avoidance of doubt, the hostel takes no responsibility for the supervision or safeguarding of any children staying at the hostel.
5.5. The group leader is responsible for ensuring that all guests are in compliance with house rules. Any violations of house rules can result in the individual or the whole group being asked to leave, in which case no refund will be provided. Click here for our house rules
5.6. A 10% non-refundable deposit must be paid before any group can be confirmed.
5.7. The remaining 90% must be paid within 21 days before the check-in date, failure to do so could result in the booking being cancelled and the deposit lost.
5.8. Amendments to group bookings can be made free of charge 21 or more days prior to the check-in. Any changes made later than 21 days prior to check-in will result in a modification fee, there will also be no refund of any monies already paid.
6. HOUSE RULES
6.1. All Guests must comply with Saint James Backpackers’ house rules, which are available here.
6.2. Valid photo identification for all Guests in the form of a Driver’s Licence, Passport or National ID card is required at check-in.
6.3. Guests are responsible for the security of all their personal belongings during their stay at the hostel. The hostel does not accept liability for any loss, theft, or damage to personal items. Additionally, any items left behind upon check-out will be held by the hostel for a maximum period of 24 hours. After this time, unclaimed belongings will be disposed of at the discretion of the hostel management. Guests are encouraged to double-check their rooms and common areas to ensure they have all their possessions before departing.
6.4. .When staying at the hostel, guests are expected to act responsibly and sensibly and refrain from doing anything that can disturb other visitors. If guests don't follow this rule, they might be asked to leave the hostel, in which case they will be responsible for paying any charges and any additional fees at the time of the disturbance (at the discretion of Saint James Backpackers).
